Description:
Laws governing qualified 401(k),403(b) and 457(b) plans continue to be enacted. The latest legislation is the Worker, Retiree, and Employer Recovery Act of 2008, which was signed into law on December 23, 2008. Among its provisions, the new law will allow participants and beneficiaries to keep their money in a plan for longer periods, with the idea that they may be able to recover some of their plan investment losses as the market slowly turns itself around. An employee benefits alert detailing the new law as it pertains to 401(k) and other defined contribution plans can be viewed by downloading the pdf.
