Timberland Transactions and Management
All owners and users of Oregon timberland must comply with the Oregon Forest Practices Act and the laws pertaining to fire, trespass and the environment. They are subject to the rights and duties under any forest management agreement to which they are a party, whether it is a contract for harvesting, hauling, silvacultural service, construction or quarrying, or any use agreement such as an easement, license, or permit. Since the founding of the Gleaves Swearingen firm in 1924, our lawyers have been helping clients to understand and comply with these laws and restrictions. We have vast experience in representing clients in such timberland-related matters as purchase, sale and exchange transactions. Our attorneys are well-versed in the new legal, regulatory and economic issues pertaining to timberland. In addition, a timberland client may benefit from the experience of our finance, litigation or employment law attorneys for other issues relating to their business.
